Two Great Brands Will Soon Become One... UniCarriers.

Tri-Lift NC Inc

Over the last 100 plus years, the materials handling industry has not really changed much, other than the manufacturers that are present in the game. Every couple of years, the materials handling industry goes through a cycle, much like the US economy as a whole, but through consolidation cycles rather than just peaks and troughs...

2015 will be no different.

The materials handling industry is about to experience another powerful consolidation of manufacturers that has been in the works for several years, but finally coming to fruition starting July 1, 2015. Below is a breakdown of the industry shaking merger forming now.

Nissan Forklifts and TCM Forklifts have merged to form the powerhouse manufacturer UniCarriers Americas. UniCarriers Americas (UCA) was created to compete more aggressivley in a changing industrial environment and focus on what they do best... manufacture top quality forklifts.

While globally the TCM Forklift brand is better known than the Nissan Forklift brand, in the United States, the Nissan Forklift brand name carries a lot more weight due to the synergy with Nissan Automotive. With TCM being larger worldwide, and Nissan being larger in the United States, the merger between these two entities provides a clear and express path to UCA becoming one of the top forklift manufacturers in the world. In fact, UCA's goal is to be the number one forklift manufacturer in the world by the year 2020.

With the TCM forklift and Nissan Forklift brands merger, forklifts will no longer be just a peripheral  or side business of a larger corporation. Forklifts, parts, and service will be the only business. This laser narrow focus will allow UniCarriers Americas to rethink their business model to bring the end user smarter logistics solutions faster.

Despite the massive changes ahead, you can still count on several constants from UCA:
  • Commitment to Excellence - UCA may be a new name, but their passionate people, tried-and-true high-quality, processes and best-in-class products remain the same and will only be improving with additional quality control and implementation practices as the leaders of the two merging companies come together to bolster product adoption.
  • Belief in True Partnership - The tenacious attitude, collaborative approach and innovative spirit will continue to define UniCarriers. UCA is as driven as ever to find new, creative ways to partner with suppliers, customers and dealers on what will prove to be a mutually beneficial growth trajectory.
  • Pledge to Protect the Environment - With ever increasing information on how smog and other carbon emissions have detrimental effects on the enviroment, UCA will operating and helping customers operate, as "Green" companies to further a better world for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Nissan/TCM Merger to form Unicarriers Americas (UCA)

So where does the merger of Nissan Forklifts and TCM Forklifts leave current Nissan or TCM forklift owers in North Carolina and Virginia?

Tri-Lift is proud to be your ONE-SOURCE for quality Unicarriers products in North Carolina and Southern Virginia. Our commitment to you, the customer, as well as your success, is consistent with the Unicarriers main theme of creating successful partnerships in the market. This makes Tri-Lift the logical choice for distribution, service, and parts support of the Unicarriers product and all older style Nissan and TCM forklifts.

What sets Tri-Lift apart from all other UniCarriers Americas dealers in our market?

Tri-Lift is a 3rd generation, family owned and operated business with headquarters based out of Greensboro, North Carolina. Currently Tri-Lift carries (3) major OEM brands of Lift trucks. Linde, UniCarriers Americas, and CLARK, so Tri-Lift can offer end users the perfect piece of equipment for their specific application rather than just pushing a single brand because it's all that is available. Some of the specific things that set Tri-Lift apart and places the company on a whole different level are as follows:
  1. Tri-Lift leads with Long Term Rentals: Tri-Lift believes that one of the best ways for customers to acquire equipment is by participating in a Long Term Rental Program sponsored by Tri-Lift. Regardless of whether the current economy and market is strong or weak, changes can occur quickly and normally without any warning. As a company manager, owner, or operator, owning and investing in capital equipment that depreciates over time can often be a massive drain on comapny cash flow and equipment sits heavy on the balance sheets. A well thought-out equipment acquisition strategy prepared by the Tri-Lift Fleet Management Team, can often times include Long-Term Rental (LTR) options.
        • Participating in a Tri-Lift LTR program means no upfront capital outlay regardless if a company is looking to acquire a single forklift or an entire fleet. We can deliver brand new LTR units to your door immediately, if in stock, and allow you to conserve cash for operational needs.
        • An LTR Program from Tri-Lift can help reduce an aging equipment fleet and eiminate obsolescence and inefficencies in old equipment.
        • Tri-Lift still owns the equipment on an LTR contract so there is a vested interest to maintain the equipment in 100% working order and even better... renting equipment is usaully considered a 100% business expense from an accounting standpoint. Expensing the LTR payment eliminates complicated depreciation schedules and the time it takes to maintain them.
  2.  Tri-Lift offers industry leading Service and Technical Support: Another thing that sets Tri-Lift apart from the rest of the industry... all technicians are factory trained and certified. Rather than making product "Specialists"  and making customers wait until the single specialist is available to make a service call, all technicians have gone through rigorous testing and factory training. Tri-Lift may only carry (3) major OEM brands but the technicians are trained to work on anything. Any make, any model, any year forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift. Having a technician workforce with a diverse set of skills on all brands has placed Tri-Lift as one of the premier dealers in the country.
        • In addition to working on the equipment itself, recent advances in technology have now added on-board diagnostics, ECM's, and other electrical tracking and management devices to forklifts that require special softeware and cables to connect to the lift truck and work on it. Tri-Lift has a dedicated technical service department that specializes in trouble shooting manufacturer programs and software issues that may be affecting your operation.
  3. Tri-Lift has a TRUE Parts Department and Aftermarket program: The Tri-Lift Parts Department is a culmination of over 150+ years of forklift parts experience on most major brands. Experienced Tri-Lift Parts Representatives are cross trained in multiple brands in order to find the best parts at the best prices, regardless of brand.
        • The TLI Parts Department also takes it ones step further by offering their own AfterMarket Parts Program. At http://www.onereliablesource.com customers can purchase new or used parts for any make or model forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift. There is also a small selection of As-Is forklifts on the site. Even better, One Reliable Source accepts Bitcoin for payment on parts and forklifts. Using Bitcoin for payments eliminates credit card processing fees, the risk of chargebacks, and removes traditional financial institutions from the transaction, making it entirely a peer-to-peer transaction. More Information on Bitcoin here https://bitcoin.org/en/
  4. Tri-Lift has a Top-Notch Corporate Training Facility: Tri-Lift maintain several full time Safety Trainers on staff at their 4 locations throughout NC, VA and soon to be locations in SC. Tri-Lift offers regular monthly operator safety training classes for individuals in-house as well as training classes at customer facilities for groups of (5) or more operators that need training. In addition to traditional operator training, Tri-Lift also offers a "Train the Trainer" program where a company can get a single employee or several employees certified to train the rest of the company's staff. Tri-Lift also offers a FREE safety walkthrough for any customer interested in knowing where OSHA may fine them if they were to be hit with a suprise inspection. For more information on the Free Safety Walkthrough, please visit http://www.tri-lift.com/contact_us.asp

When will the "Nissan" and "TCM" names be dropped entirely?

As of July 1, 2015, all Nissan and TCM forklift dealers will officially drop the Nissan and TCM names and solely be UniCarriers Dealers. All Current "Nissan Only (Nissan by UniCarriers)" and all current "TCM only (TCM By UniCarriers)" dealers will have access to the same forklift models, the same parts, and the same aftermarket programs as of July 1st.

Will I still be able to get parts and service on my older style  Nissan or TCM forklifts?

Absolutely! The Parts and Service team at Tri-Lift has superior knowledge on both the Nissan and the TCM product. We can source parts, new or used, from all over the world to get your unit back up and running in even the most mission critical applications.

Will my current servicing Nissan or TCM dealer be changing?

Your servicing dealer will only change if you want it to. Tri-Lift is urging current and potential Nissan/TCM/Unicarriers customers in the North Carolina and Southern Virginia market to open their account with Tri-Lift and switch over your parts and service orders to us. We truly believe that Tri-Lift is the one, best, source for your UniCarriers equipment, parts, service, and rental needs.

I have additional questions about the merger, who can I ask?

Tri-Lift has dedicated ample resources to help customers in our market through the Nissan/TCM merger into UniCarriers with as few questions as possible in an attempt to eliminate any confusion. Do not hesitate to call Tri-Lift directly on the toll free number at 866-393-9833.
